Nine flat number templates at 12 inch, covering 0 to 8 — a 6 turned upside down gives you the 9. You lay the template on a baked sheet cake and cut around it, which is how number cakes are made without buying a separate tin for every birthday. Templates also store flat in a drawer, unlike number tins, and they cost a fraction of a set of tins covering the same digits. One set covers birthdays for years.

Care & Use
Cut with a long serrated knife held vertical against the template edge; a short blade wanders. Chill the sponge for half an hour first — a cold cake cuts cleanly and a warm one crumbles. Wash and dry flat, and store the templates stacked rather than bent.
